Balbaly is an AR experience inspired by the ancient stone statues found across Kazakhstan, traditionally believed to represent old magicians or protectors. These statues, known as "balbals," served as talismans and spiritual idols, symbolizing guidance and protection for nomadic tribes. The project reimagines these ancient guardians in a digital form, creating portable, site-specific artifacts that reconnect users with their spiritual and cultural heritage. Each Balbal is recreated with intricate details and infused with symbolic ornamentation to reflect its role as a protector. Placed in open spaces like forests or other natural settings, the digital statues appear as sacred figures guarding their surroundings. By interacting with the Balbaly, users are invited to experience their protective aura and reflect on the deep connection between humanity, nature, and spiritual traditions.
