A moment in time: Friendship Snapshots

This work extends the ideas explored in my previous project about how friendships continue to stay with us over time, but places a greater emphasis on specific places and moments. The work consists of two scenes set in locations that hold special significance in my friendships. Through immersion in these environments, viewers are invited to experience the small but meaningful connections I have shared with my friends. The visual presentation of memory in this work is heavily inspired by the slow-shutter cinematography used in Wong Kar-Wai's film Chungking Express. I am particularly drawn to how the technique captures the emotions of the characters while conveying the passage of time. To recreate this feeling, I use 360-degree time-lapse footage to depict the world moving around the characters. At the same time, I intentionally slow down the characters' movements to evoke a sense of permanence and eternity. This contrast between the rapidly changing environment and the slowed, almost timeless characters reflects the relationship between the external world and the way memories are preserved within our psychological world.
