A.P.O.I.K.I.A. Moon Camp - Exterior View - Smaller Dimensions
The Moon Camp A.P.O.I.K.I.A. is an innovative lunar base designed by students from the 1st Gymnasium of Polichni, Greece, as part of a collaborative eTwinning project with Primary School Središće in Croatia. This project, titled "There and Back Again: A Space Tale," showcases the combined efforts of young minds exploring the future of space habitation. A.P.O.I.K.I.A. was entered into the Moon Camp Challenge 2022-2023, organized by the European Space Agency (ESA), Airbus Foundation, and Autodesk. The project achieved remarkable success, securing 3rd place in the Explorers category among ESA member states, competing against 5,354 students from 39 countries. The eTwinning project also received prestigious recognition, being awarded both the National and European eTwinning Quality Labels. Furthermore, it won 1st place at the 18th National eTwinning Competition in Greece, highlighting its excellence in fostering innovation and international collaboration. Displayed here is the exterior of the Moon Camp, featuring two external domes and an interconnected underground structure. These sections are seamlessly integrated to provide a comprehensive habitat on the lunar surface. The camp also includes a cutting-edge regolith excavation unit, essential moon rovers, and a spacecraft, underscoring the project's commitment to practical solutions for sustainable lunar living.
