World of Hua

When I start to think about the concept of “capturing the essence of a space”, it immediately reminds me of psychogeography which I learned. And from my point of view, a place that I am familiar with will have more of my own memories, so I chose my bedroom. The way I show my memories is by using some surreal visual effects. So I scanned the doll of my favorite game character Fuhua, then put her in different places of this room, with the sound of me playing the game. This scene is meant to show the idea the fictional world is gradually becoming a part of our reality, they become symbols of consumption, repressed desires and expectations of an ideal life. For me, this scene may can be some sort of paradise, but from an objective perspective, it is weird and sick, so that is the way I understand how fantasy anchors our desire and composes our reality.
