Women's Growth

My work explores the evolution of women's social status, family roles and self-perception. In the first is an ancient rural Chinese kitchen, a woman writes in women's script on a paper fan, exclaiming, ‘A woman's virtue lies in being submissive - may we one day break free.’ The rain and dead grass reflect oppression. The second scene shows a modern woman working at a computer. The woman's handwriting on the screen suggests that the new-age woman is no longer submissive to others for her own sake, and the greenery around her reflects the renewal of the woman. As an intangible cultural heritage, ‘nvshu’ - the script women-only writing system connects two eras: the fan symbolises the past, and the computer represents the present, creating a dialogue across time and space. Tap the phonograph to travel to another space to watch the Women's Book Science video. The set atmosphere of the two scenes contrasts, and the women's book serves as a clue linking them. When you enter this space, you can feel the storytelling and emotional changes. The biggest difficulty I've had is that 3D scanning is hard to scan larger items in their entirety, and I've been trying to tinker with blender for a long time. (Note: Kitchen assets are third-party assets; figures and table were 3D scanned and modelled in Blender).
