This project is based on Debord's idea of psychogeography . the way physical places affect us emotionally and psychologically. My goal was to document a "real" room, but rather the emotional and psychological representation of a "real" room that is only remembered and is therefore a made up room, distorted. Also, it has been seen as fading and having an emotional connection. The experience centres around the narrations. Quotes such as 'Memory is an odd architect...it erases the walls...and it blurs the corners of our vision', driven each visual and technical aspect of my creative process. The colourising of the 360 degree panorama was done in Photoshop ; using a greyish-white, non-vibrant palette; replicating how memories lose their vibrancy as they age. 3D models were made in Blender using Decimation modifers, Touch the gramophone to awaken the memory — a gentle ripple of light will echo outward, just as the past quietly resurfaces when we dare to reach for it. adding intentional imperfection; Memory therefore represents something that is never perfectly re-created. I recorded my own voice-over using a mobile phone and created an audio track in Audacity by editing the voice-over and adding an ambient soundscape (also downloaded) to create the experience of being within someone's faded memory. One of the biggest challenges from a technical perspective was to optimise all assets for STYLY's web-based platform while maintaining the fragile, melancholic atmosphere that characterises this piece of Virtual Reality.
